Holders Dandy Town will begin their FA Cup title defence against X-Roads Warriors after the Premier Division rivals were pitted together during the first-round draw on Monday.

Town, who edged PHC Zebras 3-2 in an exciting final at the Flora Duffy Stadium last season to complete the league and cup double, will be hoping for a better performance than the one they put in on Sunday when they were beaten 2-1 by X-Roads at Goose Gosling Field.

The remaining FA Cup first-round matches involving two top-flight teams feature Hamilton Parish taking on Robin Hood while Devonshire Cougars will do battle with Somerset Trojans.

The first round includes three Corona League teams, with Footy Kings taking on Premier Division leaders North Village, Young Gunz Sound FC up against Boulevard and Tuff Dogs facing St George’s Colts.

David Furtado, the Young Gunz Sound FC president, says his team will be looking to secure an upset over Boulevard on their debut in the prestigious competition.

“We are fresh, we’re new and hungry and actually look forward to playing Boulevard,” he said.

“We are the underdogs and we are going to try and make a statement as it’s our first time in the FA Cup. We are super excited and that’s actually one of the teams we were looking forward to getting drawn with so the boys are going to be excited and ready.

“It’s football and anything can happen. So we are just going to stay focused, take it one game at a time, train hard and be ready for the game when it comes. It’s definitely a privilege to play in the FA Cup so we are going to try to make a show for the fans and try to make it as exciting as possible.”

The remaining ties will feature Wolves taking on PHC Zebras while Devonshire Colts will lock horns with Shield champions Paget Lions in the only all First-Division affair.

The matches will be held between January 20 and 23 at venues yet to be confirmed.
