Zakhari Turner and Victoria Davis among best of the best in League B
Bermuda’s fine start to the Concacaf Gold Cup qualifiers has seen two of the island’s players, goalkeeper Zakhari Turner and defender Victoria Davis, making it into the League B’s top performers list for the September window.
Naquita Robinson’s side followed up their 2-0 home win over the Dominican Republic with a 4-0 triumph away to St Vincent & the Grenadines last Tuesday. They sit on top of group C and next face second-placed Barbados away on October 27 before the return clash at home four days later.
Turner, 20, has kept two clean sheets so far and has not conceded in nine matches, with her fine spell stretching back to the Island Games in Guernsey.
Davis, 24, has also been solid in defence and part of the rearguard shielding Turner’s goal. Her great combination with Taznae Fubler in Bermuda’s defence has been a marvel to watch in the opening two games.
“Two games and two clean sheets says it all about Turner’s performance,’’ Concacaf said. She also made 11 saves and had a clearance along the way.
“Davis finished as the highest-rated defender during the window, keeping Bermuda’s opponents at bay with a League B-leading ten clearances.”
