Mia Fishel is congratulated by her Chelsea team-mates after scoring her first goal for Chelsea

Mia Fishel enjoyed a dream debut for Chelsea as she scored on her debut in a 2-1 win against Tottenham in the Women’s Super League.

Fishel rose superbly above her marker to head home a fantastic cross from Niamh Charles to put her side ahead in the 28th minute.

Chelsea extended the lead in the 51st minute, when Lauren James, sister of Chelsea defender Reece James, made sure the ball crossed the line after good work from Guto Reiten.

Tottenham pulled a goal back in the 76th minute when Martha Thomas reacted quickest to knock in a rebound off goalkeeper Zecira Musovic.

Fishel. whose father Patrick is Bermudian, recently made her first appearance for the United States after joing Chelsea for $250,000 in the summer.

Nahki Wells got his name on the scoresheet but his Bristol City team squandered a two-goal advantage in a 3-2 defeat at home to Stoke City in the Sky Bet Championship at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The Bermudian striker converted his second goal of the season in the fifteenth minute when he intercepted defender Ki-Jana Hoever’s back-pass and calmly steered the ball past goalkeeper Mark Travers to double Bristol City’s lead.

They went ahead in the fifth minute when forward Sam Bell lashed in defender Kal Naismith’s corner.

City pressed on in search of more goals and had an appeal for a penalty waved away after midfielder Mark Sykes went down under a challenge in the box before struggling Stoke mounted a surprise comeback.

Mehdi Léris sparked the rally after firing past City goalkeeper Max O’Leary from inside the area to reduce the arrears in half at the interval before fellow winger Sead Haksabanovic brought the teams level two minutes after the restart when he converted Hoever’s cross at the near post.

City created more chances to regain the lead during a good spell of possession but were left to rue what might have been after Stoke substitute, forward Nathan Lowe, tapped in midfielder Bae Junho’s cross in the 89th minute to secure the points for the away side.

It was the second successive defeat and third of the season for Wells and his fellow team-mates who are now eleventh in the Championship standings, 12 points adrift of leaders Leicester City and four off the play-off positions.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Bermudian forward Isaiah Blankendal celebrated his birthday in style after scoring in Hartley Wintney’s resounding 3-0 win away at Corinthian Casuals in the Isthmian League South Central Division.

The former Dandy Town player capped his side’s impressive shutout win in hostile territory after rounding off the scoring in the 85th minute.

Taylor Morgan and Jayden Smith converted Hartley Wintney’s other goals.
