Hamilton Parish condemn X-Roads to another loss

Macquille Walker scored two goals against X-Roads

X-Roads 0 Hamilton Parish 4

Captain Macquille Walker led by example with two goals and an assist to lead Hamilton Parish to an easy Premier Division victory over winless X-Roads Warriors yesterday.

The three points leave Parish inside the relegation zone, but they are now just a point off safety below Somerset Trojans and Young Men Social Club. X-Roads remain rooted to the foot of the table with just one point.

“it’s always a good feeling to win but the work has just begun,” Parish coach Sergio Goater said after the game.

“I don’t think there is anything to celebrate right now. We need to put our heads down as we have a long way to go.”

Parish dominated the opening minutes with two clear-cut chances but Walker and then Leroy Lewis both sliced inches wide from good positions.

X-Roads defender Orlyn Williams was then nearly punished when his attempted clearance went straight to Justin Bell, whose first time shot beat goalkeeper Q’Shai Darrell but not the upright as it bounced back into play.

The home side’s first attempt came shortly after with Daniel Teleman hitting a firm drive from 25 yards which was easily handled by Parish goalkeeper Nigel Burgess.

Parish’s persistence finally paid off when Walker cut inside from the right flank to hit a low drive which beat the outstretched arm of Darrell and settled in the bottom right corner of the net.

Goater’s men doubled their lead midway through the half when Quinn Outerbridge played a precision pass down the right channel to find Kion Knights, who turned his marker and unleashed a firm drive past the stranded keeper.

Goalkeeper Burgess gifted X-Roads with a scoring opportunity when his poor punch from a Jamin Lottimore cross fell to the feet of Rico Beek, who would blast over the top from close range.

Parish continued to control the match, stringing passes through the midfield to take a deserved lead into the break.

Their pressure continued and Parish scored their third courtesy when Walker played a pinpoint pass to Zuhri Burgess, who drilled a low shot into the open left corner of goalkeeper Darrell’s net.

X-Roads continued to fight and thought they had scored on the hour when danger man Donovan Thompson dazzled his way pass three defenders only to have Burgess pull off a point-blank save to concede a corner. Tyman Daniels rose highest with a powerful header from the resulting cross but it was cleared off the goalline.

Walker would close out the scoring late in the match when he dispossessed centre back Tom Whited before slotting the ball beyond the defenceless Darrell.
