Milai Perott signs on with Notts County

Valuable experience: Milai Perott travelled with the Notts County first team for the Football League Trophy encounter away to Lincoln City

Milai Perott has become the latest Bermudian to take a step towards the professional ranks after registering for Sky Bet League Two outfit Notts County’s B and under-18 teams.

Following a successful trial period, the 19-year-old goalkeeper, who used to play for Dandy Town, has followed compatriot Zhani Burgess in joining the club.

Perott has already had the opportunity to train and travel with the first team, including for the Football League Trophy encounter away to Lincoln City, as well as the league clash at Crewe Alexandra.

The goalkeeper and 19-year-old defender Burgess are both products of the FCV International Football Academy, in Leicestershire, where young players between the ages of 14 and 21 combine full-time training with first-class education in the hope of joining the paid ranks.

Burgess and Perott were part of the academy’s Football with Education programme, where those who are successful come away with a BTEC Extended Diploma – the equivalent of three A levels – and a pathway to higher education for degree study.

Both played key roles in the semi-professional senior team, who feature in the Nottinghamshire Senior League first division as FCV Grace Dieu.
