Former Coach of the Year Aaron Denkins leaves Dandy Town

Dandy Town are on the search for their fourth permanent head coach in as many years after Aaron Denkins reluctantly relinquished the role.

Devarr Boyles, president of Western Stars Sports Club, confirmed in a statement that Denkins had stepped down, citing work commitments away from football as the key contributing factor in his decision.

“Coach Denkins has reluctantly decided that he does not have sufficient time to lead the team effectively as head coach,” said Boyles, with the club seventh in the Premier Division and seven points clear of the relegation zone.

“His main employment commitments has increased considerably. Current work-life balance is not sustainable while new job adjustments and considerations are being worked on.

“A new head coach will be announced shortly with coach Denkins being retained as an assistant coach. This change is effective immediately.”

Denkins stepped into the role during last season after Jay Bean stepped down from the position.

It was the second consecutive campaign that Denkins, the club’s technical director, took the reins after being forced to do so the season before when Kwame Steede parted ways with the club during their pre-season preparations.

That campaign ultimately turned out to be a triumph as Denkins coached Town to the coveted Premier Division and FA Cup double, deservedly earning the Coach of the Year accolade.

It is unclear whether a replacement will be in position by the time Town face Devonshire Cougars in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Saturday night (9pm).
