Nahki Wells scores winner for Bristol City against Plymouth Argyle

Nahki Wells celebrates scoring the winning goal against Plymouth Argyle on Monday

Nahki Wells scored the winning goal for Bristol City against Plymouth Argyle on Monday.

The Bermudian forward, who started the game as a substitute but was introduced at the start of the second half by City coach Liam Manning as a replacement for striker Tommy Conway, netted the winner in the 57th minute.

Wells got the decisive touch on the ball after Jason Knight broke forward from midfield and played the ball to Anis Mehmeti, whose shot was superbly pushed away by Argyle goalkeeper Michael Cooper. However, Mark Sykes touched the ball back inside and Nahki Wells got the decisive touch.

The goal was Wells’s fifth league goal of the season and was his first since scoring in a 2-2 draw against Coventry City on January 30.

The victory against Plymouth was Bristol City’s third in their last four matches and comes just three days after they beat promotion contenders Leicester City 1-0 at Ashton Gate on Good Friday.

Wells and his team are now up to twelfth in the Sky Bet Championship with 53 points from 40 games and have six matches left to play. They are next in action away at Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
