First Division champions Devonshire Colts completed a perfect campaign with an emphatic 7-1 victory over Boulevard in their rescheduled season finale at Goose Gosling Field last night.

Ray Jones’s team dominated the lopsided contest with experienced forward Chemarl Henry leading the charge with four goals and captain Daniel Ball, Sekai Tatem and substitute Javier Jackson also getting on the scoresheet.

Zico Stovell replied for a Boulevard outfit who found themselves out of their depth against a rampant Colts side that won their full quota of league matches for the season.

“These young men have done an excellent job,” an elated Colts coach and former player Jones told The Royal Gazette.

“They committed to the goals for the season since back in August, so I am pleased with them etching themselves in the history books.”

Jones also complimented Boulevard for committing to the match, which was twice rescheduled, with nothing at stake to play for.

“They showed a great attitude to come and play the match when they had nothing to play for,” he said.

Colts clinched the league title and promotion with four games to spare after a 5-1 win over Somerset Eagles at White Hill Field on February 4.

Having achieved his primary objective for the season, Jones has shifted his focus on his team’s return to the top flight after a two-year hiatus.

“We are looking forward to playing with the big boys again next season and have already started work in preparation,” he said.

Colts took only six minutes to break the deadlock with Henry grabbing his first of the night.

He then found the back of the net again in the 32nd and 36th minutes to all but end the match as a contest and complete his hat-trick, while Tatem scored in the 42nd minute to send Colts into the break with a commanding 4-0 advantage.

Stovell pulled one back for Boulevard in the 55th minute but it would prove only to be a consolation, as Ball scored eight minutes later to restore his team’s four-goal lead.

Henry dispatched his fourth of the night a minute later to make it 6-1 before Jackson rounded off the scoring in the 85th minute.
