Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott has had his contract extended by the English Premier League side until 2026.

The Bermudian goalkeeper’s previous deal was set to expire this summer, but the London club have opted to activate the two-year option in his contract amid speculation that they are demanding a transfer fee for his services or considering sending him out on loan again.

Trott has been on loan at Danish club Vejle Boldklub since 2022 and has impressed between the posts, reportedly drawing interest from FC Copenhagen, Brøndby and AGF.

It’s also understood the player has attracted interest from teams in England’s Sky Bet Championship, where he could continue his development on another loan move and potentially come up against compatriot Nahki Wells, who plies his trade at Bristol City.

While it has been suggested that Trott is not a part of West Ham’s first team’s future plans, his successful loan spell in Denmark has created potential opportunities and, with a secured contract, the player and his parent club are poised to benefit from his next move.

The former England Under-21 goalkeeper was initially signed as a youth prospect by former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic in 2016 and went on to sign his first senior contract three years later.

Trott has made one first-team appearance for West Ham to date having come off the bench as a second half substitute in the club’s FA Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers in January 2021.

He has also suited up for English outfit AFC Wimbledon and France’s Nancy following a spell with West Ham’s development team.
