Rego loses in second round

Bermuda tennis player Chris Rego was beaten in his second round match in the ITF Central American and Caribbean Tennis Federation’s Under-14 Tournament.Rego who had won all three of his round robin qualifying games in the COPA Gatorade International Tournament in El Salvador also won his first round match, however he went down in three sets in the second round.The 13-year-old took on Jose Ponsa from El Salvador defeating him in the first set 7-6, Ponsa won the second set 7-6. In the third and final set Rego went down 6-1 to bow out of the singles competition.Rego is still in the doubles competition with his ITF Team partner Rodolph Diaz, from Cuba. They beat Marco Guirola and Jamie Molina, of Spain, 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 in the first round yesterday.Tomorrow the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association will be holding the first leg of their Inter-schools Tournament at the WER Joell Stadium from 1-3pm.
