Rego finds form in Costa Rica

Bermuda tennis player Chris Rego has reached the semi-finals of both the boys singles and doubles competition at the Costa Rica Bowl.

The 13-year-old beat the host nation's Alberto De Mendiola 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 in the singles and, along with his doubles partner Rodolpho Diaz, defeated David and Eduardo Miranda of Costa Rica 6-1, 6-0.

Rego will join his Bermuda team-mates for their World Junior Tennis Championship pre-qualifiers to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, later this week. Courtland and Billy Boyle make up the boys team while the girls contingent includes Taylor McHarg, Christina Joynes and Eva Frazzoni.

The Island's goal is to qualify for the Championships which take place in August in the Czech Republic, where the top 16 nations will vie to be crowned world champions.

Bermuda's team, managed by Jerome Bradshaw and Steve Bean, leave the Island this weekend.
