Bermuda fifth at qualifiers

Bermuda boys’ team finished in fifth position at the World Junior Tennis Championship pre-qualifiers in Domingo, Dominican Republic.Chris Rego and Courtland Boyle sealed Bermuda’s win over Guatemala after scoring singles victories against Jose Ponsa and Javier Castillo. Boyle won his match 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, while Rego clinched his tie 6-3, 7-5.The Boyles cousins, Courtland and Billy, then won their match 6-4, 6-3 to complete a clean sweep for the Island.In the girls’ competition, Bermuda’s Taylor Mcharg came from behind to beat Panama’s Victoria Sherry 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.Eva Frazzoni then claimed victory over Maria Isabela Peralta 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.In the doubles, Frazzoni and Christina Joynes who beat Panama’s Victoria Sherry and Daniela Diez 6-2, 6-1, completed the sweep. The Bermuda girls’ team finished in 11th place overall.
