Counties relay set for Sunday

There is still time for teams of four to enter the Eastern Counties Relay Classic road running event, which will take place for the first time this Sunday.The four-stage relay will start at Flatts Field and finish at St David’s Club, covering a distance of just under 10 miles.There are prizes for the first three men’s and women’s teams, and also a prize for the first cricket club team.Runners on the first leg will cover 1.25 miles from Flatts Field to Cleveland County Club before handing over to their next relay team member who will cover three miles to reach Baileys Bay club.The third-leg runner will also cover three miles to reach Stokes Point before the fourth member of the team rounds things off, covering the 2.5 miles to St David’s Club.The event is being held in conjunction with Swan’s Running Club and is sanctioned by the BNAA. It will start at 8.30am on Sunday.Entries can be made online at www.racedayworld.com or on forms which can be found at Sportseller in Washington Mall and also at Cleveland County, Baileys Bay and St David’s cricket clubs. The closing date for entries is Friday at 4.30pm, with race number pick-up on Saturday between noon and 3pm at Harrington Workmen’s Club.
