Jr tennis teams suffer defeat
Bermuda's boys and girls teams suffered defeat in their semi-final matches at the ITF/GSDF English Caribbean Wilson Under 12 COTECC Team Championships in Jamaica yesterday.
The boys team of Ben Lines and Ricky Mallory III lost to Bahamas 1-2 in their three- match series at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston.
Lines lost his singles match with Jacobi Bain 6-1, 6-1 while Mallory also lost in his singles match with Donte Armbrister 6-3, 5-7, 11-9 in a three-hour contest that was decided by a super tie-break (first to ten points)
Lines and Mallory won their doubles match against the same opponents 7-5, 3-6, 10-8.
Meanwhile, Bermuda's girls team of Imani Phillips and Kaylah Ming lost to Bahamas 0-3.
Ming lost to Sydney Clarke 6-3, 6-3 while Phillips lost to Elana Mackay 6-4, 6-2 which clinched the series for Bahamas.
Phillips and Ming also lost their doubles match against Clarke and Mackay 6-2, 6-0.
Bermuda's boys and girls teams must now win their consolation matches with St Lucia and Guyana today to advance to October's Masters Under-12 Development Tournament in Mexico.
