Bermuda ended their Fed Cup Americas Zone group two campaign in Puerto Rico on a positive note, defeating Panama 3-0 on Saturday.

It was the only win of the tournament for Bermuda who placed ninth overall.

Bermuda gained the early upper hand after Cayla Cross breezed to a crushing 6-0, 6-0 win over Daniela Diez in a match lasting just 42 minutes. Tyler Smith’s, Bermuda’s number one player, clinched the best of three series after dispatching Karla Contreras 6-0, 6-2.

Bermuda then completed the clean sweep after siblings Tara and Jacklyn Lambert beat Gabriela Gonzalez and Diez 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 in the doubles. Gaining promotion to the Americas Zone group one for next year’s Fed Cup were Bolivia and Chile.
