Mallory, 16, and Mercelina defeated No 1 seeds, Tom Leblanc Claverie, of France, and Alvin Nicholas Tudorica, of Canada, 6-2, 6-3 in the semi-finals.

In the singles competition Mallory had play his semi-final against Fonseca just one hour after his quarter-final win over top seed Jeffrey Fradkin, of the US, because of time lost through rain. Mallory lost to Fonseca 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

Ricky Mallory, Trey's father and the national tennis director, said: “Trey's very happy to have won his first ITF Junior Circuit title and hopes to build on his performance. We are all very proud of Trey; he's had a great run in this event.”
