Coaches earn junior development certificates

Manders Tennis Management held a 10 and under junior development workshop for nine local coaches and players at the Fairmont Southampton last weekend.

Jovan Jordan-Whitter, Tariq Simons, Scott Redmond, Andrew Paynter, Cayla Cross, Imani Phillips, Raj Goonewardene, Crystal Richardson and Nicholas Butterfield all earned a Professional Tennis Registry certification.

Gavin Manders, of MTM, also completed his training as a PTR clinician last weekend. Inaki Balzola, an international director for PTR, administered both courses. As a PTR International clinician and tester, Balzola has taught more than 600 tennis teachers' certification workshops in English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish in more than 95 countries.

He is a frequent speaker and represents PTR at many international symposia, including the annual PTR International Symposium, USTA Tennis Teachers Conferences in New York, ITF Worldwide Coaches Conferences and the ITF Annual Meeting.

Balzola has also spoken in regional symposia in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, China, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Paraguay, Peru and the United States.
