Contenders becoming clearer on day three of squash championships

Exciting action at squash championships

There was plenty of thrilling action taking place on day three of the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association’s Club Championships on Wednesday.

Midway through the tournament and the identities of the players likely to be involved in the latter stages are starting to crystallise.

There were six junior matches played with James Bigley, Mason Smith, Ben Sherratt, George Qureshi, Kaiden Desilva and Charlie Law all winning in straight sets.

In the men’s tournament, Graham Moss came out on top in a lengthy four-set battle over Neil Varwandkar in the main draw of group C with Brian Rosorea and Hudson Ferris beating Matty Copeland and Rocco Adderley respectively in the Plate Division.

In the men’s B Plate Division, Jamie Ball dropped a set against Ethan Rosorea on his way to victory with Graeme Henderson overcoming Nicky Southern in an incredibly tight four-set encounter.

In the Ladies Open Rose Paulos beat Deborah Sagurs in straight sets with Joann Beilby winning by a similar margin in the Ladies Over-40 Division. Denise Kyme and Liz Martin made it through in the Over-50 Division.

More exciting action will be taking place at the Club in Devonshire over the next two days, with the semi-finals and final taking place on Thursday and Friday evenings.
