It’s exactly a month until the 114th edition of the Bermuda Half Marathon and this year’s winners will receive recognition for their exploits on the day of the race.

Sponsored by Argus, this year’s event will feature the moving of the traditional prizegiving ceremony from the week following the race to the finish line on raceday.

That move is welcomed by Dr Gina Tucker, the Derby Committee President, as she looks forward to the day, with the race scheduled to start in St George’s at 8.30am and ending in Bernard’s Park.

“The committee is thrilled to continue the legacy of the Marathon Derby, which is now in its 114th year,” Tucker said

“We are always looking for new ways to highlight what this race means to the community as well as give every opportunity for the runners to celebrate their accomplishments. To support this, this year will see the full prize presentation, previously held the week following the race, being held on race day at the finish line.

“We are entering our fifth year with the Argus Group as our lead sponsor and I again extend a heartfelt thank you to them for their support and dedication to our growth and evolution and commend them for the lead they are taking with regard to community engagement.”

Phil Davis, Head of Marketing and Digital Engagement at Argus, said,

“As the lead sponsor of the Bermuda Half Marathon Derby, we’re so proud to support this cherished Bermudian tradition that promotes health, wellness, and community spirit. We believe that investing in events like this not only benefits the participants, but also has a powerful and positive impact on the community as a whole.

“The return of the Argus Running Club, led by trainer Dave Wolffe, has been nothing short of remarkable. We're thrilled to see over 100 participants take on the challenge of building sustainable exercise and nutrition habits throughout the 8-week programme.

“We look forward to cheering on all the participants on May 26. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by our Argus Tent which will be located near the Aquarium and join us in celebrating the runners, volunteers and spectators.”

This year, there is also a relay option for those wanting to compete in teams of two or four, offering options to those who may want to work their way up to completing the full half marathon.

As ever, volunteers are needed with community-spirited people interested in supporting the event encouraged to sign up by visiting the volunteer section on the website or e-mailing info@bermudamarathon.bm.

Online registration is now open and full details can be found on the Derby website, with updates also being shared via the Derby Twitter (@BdaHalfMarathon), Instagram (@BdaHalfMarathon) and Facebook feeds (facebook.com/BdaHalfMarathon).
