Harvey leads way in the open water

Emma Harvey won the Bermuda National Open Water Championships by the narrowest of margins yesterday.

The 14-year-old completed the 5-kilometre swim in 1hr 10m 53.1 sec, finishing narrowly ahead of Erik Soria who was second in 1:10:54. Illya Cherapau was third in 1:11:30.4.

In the 1,500m swim, Jesse Washington eased to victory in 20:44.2, with Ashley Irby second in 22:46.9 and Madelyn Moore third in 23:07.7.

There was also a 400m introduction to open water swimming race, which Jessie Marshall won in 7:16.9, with Elsa Stevenson second in 7:59.3 and Kyle Dash third in 8:18.4.
