Several records were set at the Schroders Spring Championships on the weekend, with Brooke Castree, of Harbour Swim Club, setting three records in the eight and under 50 metres butterfly, 50 metres backstroke and 100 metres butterfly.

“There were several records broken over the four days of competition,” national coach Ben Smith confirmed yesterday. “This was a very successful Championship meet thanks to the sponsor Schroders.

“The swimmers freshly back from Carifta performed well in front of the home crowd and the young talent of the future was also on display.”

Sam Williamson, one of the recent Carifta competitors in Bahamas, set a record in the 13-14 boys 50 breaststroke while Tian Haas broke the record in the girls eight and under 100 backstroke. Skyler Powell broke the 13-14 girls 800 metres freestyle record.

Records were also broke in relay events with the Sharks 9-10 girls team of Adriana Argent, Daria Desmond, Marleigh Howes and Bella Howes set a new mark in the 400 metres freestyle.

The Sharks 13-14 boys team of Brian Desmond, Keagan Wooley, Williamson and Neil Budge set a new record in the 400 metres individual medley event while the Harbour 9-10 girls relay team of Caitlin Coleman, Penelope Teglegaard, Pippa Charleson and Imojen Judd set a new record in the 400 IM.
