Duffy wins open water race

Flora Duffy won the 1,500 metres race at the Open Water Bermuda – National Championships in St David's yesterday.

Duffy, who revealed last week she hopes to finish her ITU triathlon career at the 2021 Grand Final in Bermuda, finished in a time of 20min 11sec.

She missed the ITU Grand Final Gold Coast, Australia, on Saturday because of a foot injury. That race was won by home-town favourite Ashleigh Gentle in a sprint finish with Vicky Holland, of Britain, who claimed the overall title. In the 5K open water swim, Eileen Mullowney won in 1:13:13 while Marleigh Howes was victorious in the 400 race in 6:04.
