Local trio to compete in Calgary

Three local swimmers will be participating in the Canadian Junior Swimming Championships in Calgary, Alberta, this week.

Logan Watson-Brown, fresh from her triple gold-medal performance at the Central American and Caribbean Federation Championships three weeks ago in Barbados, will compete in the 100 metres butterfly and the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events.

Backstroke specialist Jack Harvey will look to improve on his performances from CCCAN, where he took silver in the 200 backstroke, as well as making finals in the 100 backstroke.

Brian Desmond is a distance freestyler and will be competing in the 200, 400 and 800 events, as well as the three-kilometer open water event.”

The annual event brings together the top age-group swimmers from Canada and beyond.

The pool competition will be hosted at the Repsol Sports Centre in Calgary, western Canada. The open water event will be held in Lake Chaparral, just south of the city.
