Fireminds steps up cybersecurity services

Fireminds International, a subsidiary of ATNI, has expanded its managed security services through a partnership with Fortinet.

The partnership’s aim is to implement an enterprise grade security incident and event management platform for Fireminds managed services information technology clients.

The SIEM platform monitors any potential cybersecurity risks in a client’s information technology environment and alerts Fireminds IT team to potential issues, the company said.

These matters are investigated and remediated by the network operations centre/security operations centre team. The system uses real time global feeds from Fortinet’s FortiGuards Labs to triangulate cyber threats faster and is underpinned by artificial intelligence tools to assist with threat detection.

A spokesman for the company said the Fireminds network and software automation teams can use security orchestration, automation and response tools from Fortinet to automate response to threats and protect customer’s IT assets faster.

“Furthermore, clients who have Fortinet firewalls and network equipment in their environment are afforded tighter integration with FortiSIEM, tying everything into one security fabric and offering better protections,” the spokesman said.

Bill James, Fireminds/ATN SOC manager, said the FortiSIEM was a great addition to the company’s suite of cybersecurity tools. He added that about 3,000 devices and 2,000 customers were being protected by the product.

Mr James added: “We are getting a great deal of insights into the cybersecurity risks in the various networks that we protect and better able to protect those networks for our customers now.”

Michael Branco, Fireminds’ founder and chief executive officer, said the roll-out of new cybersecurity tools was a significant investment, but it enabled the firm to make enterprise-grade security tools available at a per endpoint or per user cost, making the solution and protection available to any size customer.

Rich Casselberry, executive director of security, architecture and compliance for Fireminds/ATN was pleased with the performance of the FortiSIEM over the past six months, as it replaced a number of legacy security products.

“We are also rolling out the FortiSIEM to all existing Fireminds customers free of charge for the rest of 2020,” he said. “The whole Fireminds team knows what a tough year this has been and we wanted to say thank you for being amazing customers of ours.”
