Mason Smith, Somers Stevenson and Owen Rosorea play for squash gold medals

Mason Smith, Somers Stevenson and Owen Rosorea will all be playing for gold medals at the Junior Caribbean Squash Championships.

Smith, one of the youngest players on the trip to St Vincent & the Grenadines at the age of 9, beat Philip Bodhi, of New Zealand, in straight sets to make it into the final of the boys under-11 competition. He could face compatriot Benjamin Sherratt in the decider as he faces Ethan Bulkan in the other semi-final.

Stevenson plays for gold after beating Ava Vamvakas, of Barbados, 11-4, 11-6, 11-4 in the girls under-15 semi-final. She will play Avery Arjoon of Guyana in the final.

Rosorea will face home favourite Jayden George in the boys under-15 final after beating Charlie Makin in four sets.

It’s not only those three in with chances of bringing medals back to Bermuda with Andrew Cox and siblings Taylor and McKenna Kyme in the hunt for bronze on day three of the championships.

Cox will play Jadyon Williams in the third-place play-off after he was beaten by No 2 seed Mohryan Baksh in his semi-final.

Taylor Kyme will square off against Peyton Marshall-Branc, of Barbados, in her quest to grab a medal after she was beaten by No 1 seed Gia Ghuran in the semi-final, while her sister McKenna will play Tiana Gomes, of Guyana, in her play-off.

Away from the medal matches, George Qureshi and Leilani Carpol will play off for fifth place in boys under-11 and girls under-13 competitions respectively.

William Frith, Rose Paulos and Ethan Rosoreas have made it through to the Plate semi-finals with Eli Carpol, Tyler Komposch and Gabrielle Turchiaro playing to find out their final finishing positions between fifth and eighth.
