Deloitte Tennis open and Davis Cup fundraiser
The highly anticipated Deloitte Open Tennis & Pickleball Tournament is set to return as one of Bermuda’s local premier sporting events, bringing together top talent for a week of competitive tennis, pickleball and community engagement.
The tournament, hosted by Pomander Gate Tennis & Pickleball Club, has become a cornerstone event for Bermuda’s racket community, attracting players, fans, and supporters from across the island.
Tennis events will run from May 30 to June 6 and will be played daily from 5.30pm to 9pm on weekday evenings and from 9am to 5pm at the weekend.
Players must be registered members for the current year for the tournament, which is sanctioned by the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA). With category fees beginning at $25, a spokesman for the club says that “the aim is to make playing as accessible for all interested tennis players, as possible. Entries should be submitted before the deadline: May 26, 2026.”
The Deloitte Open tournament schedule will include singles and doubles competitions across multiple divisions, offering exciting match play for tennis enthusiasts of all levels.
This year’s tournament will also shine a spotlight on the Bermuda Davis Cup Team as they prepare to host Mexico in Davis Cup Group 2 action in September. Prior to the first ball being hit, there will be a fundraiser/BBQ social with all proceeds going towards supporting Team Bermuda’s efforts.
The tie, which will mark the return of Davis Cup action to the islands’ shores for the first time in nearly two decades, will highlight a standout year for Bermuda as the island won an historic match against Georgia in February to claim Group 2 status for the first time in the country’s history.
The fundraiser is scheduled to begin at 6pm on Friday, May 15. There will be a raffle draw and live auction. Patrons interested in attending can contact daviscup@blta.bm or purchase tickets at the door ($75).
A spokesman for the club says that the club’s partnership with the BLTA to host the Davis Cup fundraiser ahead of the tournament reflects a shared mission to grow the sport locally while helping Bermuda’s elite athletes represent the island internationally.
“The Deloitte Open is more than just a tournament — it’s a celebration of Bermuda tennis and the incredible community that supports it,” said Blair Rance, tournament director for the Deloitte Open.
“By aligning with the Bermuda Davis Cup fundraiser at Pomander Gate Tennis Club, we are creating an opportunity for players, sponsors and fans to directly contribute to the future of Bermudian tennis.”
“Our players proudly represent Bermuda on the world stage, and community support plays a critical role in making that possible,” said Ricky Mallory, Bermuda Davis Cup captain and national tennis director.
“We are grateful to Pomander Gate Tennis Club for helping bring the tennis community together around this important cause.”
The pickleball portion of the Deloitte Open tournament will begin on June 8 and additional details regarding tournament registration and match schedules for both events will be announced in the coming weeks.
