Some of Bermuda’s talented junior tennis players, Lee Terceira, Trystan Thompson and Rylie Maybury, travelled to Miami, Florida, to compete in a qualifier for the US Play off Series Junior Orange Bowl Master event.

Terceira put together an impressive run, powering her way to the semi-finals to book her spot in the Masters Qualifier next weekend.

Up against the No 3 seed, Thompson turned in a strong performance and battled hard before bowing out 6-2, 7-5, while Maybury also put up a spirited fight in his opening match.

Both boys moved into the consolation draw, where the stage was set for an exciting all-Bermudian final.

In a thrilling contest, Thompson showed tremendous determination and composure, saving a match point before clinching victory 7-5 in the deciding tie-break, which was a fantastic display of resilience and fighting spirit from both players.

According to the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association, the three juniors will remain in Florida for a few more days of training, making the most of the valuable opportunity to gain experience, sharpen their skills and continue their development.

“Congratulations to Lee, Trystan and Rylie,” the BLTA said.

“We are incredibly proud of their efforts, sportsmanship and dedication as they continue to represent Bermuda on the international tennis stage.”
