Hotelier David Dodwell has praised the dedication of his staff for The Reefs being named the top resort in the Atlantic for the third consecutive year.Readers of Conde Nast gave the beach resort in Southampton their top honours in the annual Reader’s Choice Awards.The Reefs earned an impressive score of 94.9 in the 15th consecutive year the resort has made the list.Mr Dodwell, who is president of The Reefs, was among about 250 guests at the star-studded ceremony in New York City on Monday this week.He said: “This is an incredible honour for the dedicated staff members and management team who deliver an exceptional vacation experience to the guests of The Reefs each and every day. It is rewarding for them to be recognised as the top resort in their respective region by the discerning travellers and readers of Condé Nast Traveler.”As previously reported, in the same reader awards Bermuda was crowned Best Island in the Caribbean/Atlantic.Tourism Minister Patrice Minors said it had been “a privilege to be ranked so favourably by the magazine’s globetrotting audience”.Mr Dodwell’s other hotel, Nisbet Plantation Beach Club on Nevis, was named the number one resort in the Caribbean, after holding on to the number three spot for the past two years. It scored 96.1 and is the sixth time the hotel has made the list.The 24th annual Reader’s Choice Awards, which will feature in the November issue of the magazine, are based on a survey which asked readers to rank their best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels and resorts worldwide.A total of 28,876 readers voted in this year’s survey and resorts were rated on their food/dining, location, overall design, rooms and service.Mr Dodwell, who is a former Tourism Minister, is no stranger to award ceremonies having notched up scores of global tourism awards.
