Bermuda’s Masterworks art gallery has won a prestige award from the world’s biggest travel site.

The Botanical Gardens museum of Bermuda art picked up the award for excellence from TripAdvisor, which honours tourist attractions based on customer reviews.

Masterworks founder and creative director Tom Butterfield said: “Winning the TripAdvisor certificate of excellence is a true source of pride for the entire team at Masterworks and we’d like to thank all of our past guests who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor.

“There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers. With the TripAdvisor certificate of excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence.”

To qualify, attractions must maintain an overall rating of at least four out five, as well as meet other criteria, including the number of reviews and popularity rating on the site.

Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for Business, said: “TripAdvisor is pleased to honour exceptional hospitality businesses for consistent excellence.

“The certificate of excellence award gives top-performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve based on feedback from those who matter most — their customers.

“From Australia to Zimbabwe, we want to applaud exceptional hospitality businesses for offering TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience.”

Masterworks is home to more 14,000 pieces of Bermuda-inspired art and includes famous names like US painters Winslow Homer and Georgia O’Keefe, as well as year-round displays of artworks from Island artists.

It also offers artist-in-residence spots to international artists to allow them to create their own interpretations of Bermuda.

Masterworks also runs weekly drop-in classes for children and the last Saturday of every month sees free arts activity for all.

The purpose-built site also features a gift shop and a cafe and is wheelchair accessible.
