Dozens of restaurants will take part in a festival celebrating Bermuda’s outdoor dining options tomorrow.The Alfresco Dining Festival, organised by the Bermuda Tourism Authority, is hoped to encourage people to support restaurants across the island. Glenn Jones, the BTA interim CEO, said: “The Alfresco Dining Festival is our opportunity to show travellers that Bermuda’s health-safety record and mild fall season make us an excellent choice for travel right now.“The pandemic’s restrictions have amplified the value of the island’s fantastic outdoor dining options, and we think this will resonate with travellers in New York, Boston, Toronto, London and every other place diners are forced indoors by cold weather. “Residents can help us make the case for choosing Bermuda by filling restaurant tables across the island over the next ten days.”The BTA said three dozen restaurants have signed on to take part in the inaugural event, several offering special deals, and two signature events have been organised to bring a spotlight to the festival.On September 24, Fort St Catherine in St George’s will host the Dinner in White, organised by Just Dreams Events with a farm-to-table menu provided by Tempest Bistro.The festival will close on September 26 with the Dockyard Finale, a day and night of entertainment and food in Dockyard.Anchor, Bonefish Bar and Grill, the Frog & Onion Pub and Snorkel Park will all participate in the event, which will include an outdoor movie screening in the Victualling Yard at 9.15pm.A BTA spokeswoman said: “The Alfresco Dining Festival is part of the BTA’s inside-out marketing plan, designed to stimulate spending from residents while simultaneously engaging visitors at a time when traveller volume remains low. “Other initiatives have included Bermuda Racquet Week, launched last month, and Staycation Month, which continues throughout September at ten participating hotels.”The festival launches continues until September 26.
