The first cruise ship of the year berthed in Bermuda yesterday when the Norwegian Epic arrived in Dockyard.

The ship was at first scheduled to be the fifth visit of the year.

But four cruises scheduled for last month were forced to cancel Bermuda visits because of bad weather off the US East Coast.

The Norwegian Epic can carry 4,100 passengers in normal times, or 2,050 at 50 per cent capacity.

The ship arrived at about 10am yesterday and is scheduled to depart at 4pm today.

It is expected to be followed by the first regular caller of the season, the Norwegian Pearl, scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
