The 2024 cruise ship season will start late after the first scheduled visit of the year was cancelled.

The Norwegian Getaway, which can accommodate 3,963 passengers, was originally scheduled to make the first of 13 scheduled visits to Bermuda yesterday and depart yesterday afternoon.

However, the voyage was struck from the schedule as of January 6, with the first cruise ship of the year now expected to be the Aurora, which is due to arrive on Saturday.

Despite the cancellation, the island is still scheduled to receive 190 cruise ship visits this year as an additional voyage to the island has been added.

The updated schedule includes MS Fram, which is set to arrive in St George’s on April 30.

The Fram is a smaller cruise ship and carries a maximum of 318 passengers. It often offers cruises to Antarctica.
