Evans misses out on finals

Aaron Evans missed out on reaching the 800 metres finals of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Texas on Saturday.

The University of Georgia athlete finished eighth in heat one in a time of one minute, 52.67 seconds. He finished 14th overall.

Evans, who was competing in his first indoor championships, said: “It was a fast race and somebody took it out hard and with 200 to go his legs weren't feeling it.”

Latroya Darrell, also representing the University of Georgia, finished 15th in the triple jump yesterday.

After opening with a foul, she reached her longest mark of 12.55 metres.
