Dage Minors with his bronze medal for finishing third in the 1,500 metres at CAC Games

Dage Minors put in an inspired performance to win the bronze medal in the 1,500 metres at the Central American and Caribbean Games last night.

Minors was well placed throughout and as his rivals began to fall off the pace, the Bermudian middle-distance runner dug deep to cling to the heels of Mexican Fernando Martínez and Puerto Rico’s Robert Napolitano.

With a lap to go, Minors was in fourth place but showed guts to sprint clear of Timothy Doyle, of Puerto Rico, and gain a deserved bronze medal in a time of 3min 45.12sec.

Bermuda has now won six medals at the CAC Games in El Salvador, double the number they garnered in Colombia in 2018.
