Mystery surrounds Palmetto Road cycle crash

A 19-year-old man had to be treated in hospital after an apparent road crash in the early hours of Saturday, according to police.

The suspected single vehicle crash, which left the Southampton man unconscious in the road with facial, back and internal injuries, occurred shortly after 1am.

A police spokesman said officers and ambulance staff arrived at the scene on Palmetto Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Frog Lane, to find the man in the road with several people gathered.

He was treated by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Investigators processed the scene, but the spokesman said no vehicle was recovered.

He added: “It is also unclear if the injured teen was the rider or pillion passenger at the time of the incident.”

Police appealed for witnesses, or anyone with possible information to call Constable Raychel Weeks on 295-0011 or e-mail rweeks@bps.bm
