Two motorcycle riders were injured in a head-on collision in Southampton on Tuesday.

According to a police spokesman, officers received reports of a two vehicle collision on Middle Road, near the junction with Pompano Beach Road, at about 7.33am.

The spokesman said: “Police, Bermuda Fire and Rescue Services as well as ambulance personnel responded to the incident.

“It appears that one motorcycle was being ridden east and another motorcycle was being ridden in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided head on after the eastbound motorcycle rider attempted to overtake eastbound traffic.

“Both riders, said to be a 29-year-old Sandys man and a 28-year-old Southampton man respectively, were hurt.”

The spokesman added that only one of the two men, the 28-year-old, was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not considered life threatening and he is expected to be discharged in due course.
