A elderly woman is being treated in the intensive care unit for injuries sustained in a serious motorcycle crash yesterday.

Just before 2pm, police received reports of a crash involving two motorcycles near the intersection of Ord Road and Tribe Road Number One in Warwick.

A 17-year-old male rider was travelling along Ord Road before stopping at the stop sign. He intended to cross the roadway and continue north on to Tribe Road Number One when a 78-year-old woman was heading west and the two vehicles collided.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “The woman, who was unresponsive following the collision, was transported by an ambulance which was near by, before the arrival of police.

“Subsequent checks by officers indicated she is now warded in the intensive care unit.”

Police are also investigating a single-vehicle crash which took place near the junction of Crow Lane and Lane Hill, Pembroke at about 6pm yesterday.

Police said a 69-year-old man was riding along East Broadway before hitting a curb and losing control of his bike at the junction of Lane Hill.

The rider swerved and fell off the vehicle, which landed on top of him.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The incident resulted in traffic delays as the scene was processed.
