A male motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Middle Road in Sandys.

Police and first responders were called out to the crash involving a car and a motorbike at the junction with Overplus Lane at about 6pm today.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “Initial information suggests that the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the male motor car driver was attempting to negotiate a right hand turn on to Overplus Lane and the male motorcyclist was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the collision occurred.”

The motorcyclist was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

The male motor car driver suffered minor abrasions that did not require medical attention.

“Traffic is being diverted through the railway trail at Store Lane and Parsonage Lane, using a one way system,” the spokesman added.

“The roads are expected to be closed for about two hours while the scene is being processed.”

Police are calling on any witnesses of the incident to contact Constable Imani Scott on 211 or via e-mail at iscott@bps.bm
