Hundreds of residents had their power cut after a truck hit a utility pole yesterday.

Police said that around 4.15pm they received reports that a truck had hit a Belco pole at the intersection of Tee Street and South Road in Devonshire.

The pole was downed in the collision, which, according to a Belco spokesman, cut power to 300 residents in the area.

The male driver of the van was not seriously injured. A Belco spokesman said that power was being rerouted as crews worked to fix the damage.
