Two roadwork projects to start this week

Drivers face another series of road closures this week.

Two main roads are affected by repairs and paving work in different areas of the island.

The Ministry of Public Works advised of a lane closure on Middle Road, Southampton, from the Railway Trail at the junction with Whale Bay Road stretching west to Evans Bay Road.

This will begin from tomorrow and run until July 10, daily between 7.30am and 6pm for Belco trench work.

Traffic will be managed by Intelligent Trenching representatives using stop-and-go signs and, where necessary, traffic lights. Motorists should note that there is no designated detour route, and delays are expected.

The ministry also warned drivers of a full road closure on Southside Road, St David’s, from Stocks Road to Waller’s Point Road, from Thursday through July 10, daily between 7.30am and 6pm.

The closure is required for phase two of the Swing Bridge detour route construction project, specifically paving and manhole works in preparation for the building of a mini-roundabout at Waller’s Point Road.

Traffic controls will be managed by ministry representatives using barricades and cones. Motorists are encouraged to use the designated detour routes via Stocks Road and St David’s Road and should plan for minor disruptions.
