Three students, whose studies and training can contribute to the future of Bermuda's aviation industry, have received bursaries from the Bermuda Airport Authority.

Following a competitive application process, the BAA awarded its inaugural bursaries worth $5,000 each to Elias Reece, Ishmeal Naylor and Remy Donawa.

Mr Reece is pursuing a bachelor’s of science in aviation operations with commercial pilot training at Kingston University, in London; Mr Naylor is studying aviation management — maintenance and flight at Andrews University, in Michigan; and Remy Donawa is completing an aeronautical science (flight) degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida.

The awards were dedicated to the memory of former authority employees Burton Cox and Kim Wade, both respected professionals who made significant contributions to Bermuda's aviation community.

Congratulating the students and wishing them success, Lester Nelson, the chief executive of the Bermuda Airport Authority, said: “We were impressed by the calibre of applications received and are delighted to support these outstanding young Bermudians as they pursue careers in aviation.

“Their dedication, achievements and passion for the industry give us great confidence in the future of aviation in Bermuda.”
