The Transport Control Department announced that its Southside inspection centre is closed for the rest of today.

A spokeswoman said scheduled staff leave and unexpected illness forced the facility on Waller’s Point Road to temporarily shut down.

Members of the public can attend TCD’s North Street facility until the East End centre reopens tomorrow.

The spokeswoman added: “TCD apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as we manage this unexpected situation.”
