Motorists and pedestrians were advised today that several traffic lights on Church Street are out of action.

The City of Hamilton said the sites impacted include the junction of Queen Street and Church Street, the pedestrian crossing opposite the City Hall car park and the pedestrian crossing further along Church Street near the bus terminal.

It added: “Technicians are working to identify and resolve the issue and restore the lights to normal operation as quickly as possible.

“In the meantime, motorists are urged to exercise extra caution when travelling through the affected areas, reduce their speed, remain alert for pedestrians and be prepared to stop where necessary.

“Pedestrians are also advised to take additional care when crossing the road, ensuring that traffic has come to a complete stop before stepping into the roadway.

“The City asks all road users to exercise patience, courtesy and heightened awareness while the lights remain out of service.”

Members of the public were thanked for their patience and the City apologised for any inconvenience.
