A series of traffic lights in the centre of Hamilton went dark for the second time this month.

Drivers were urged to use care in the affected areas, where technicians are working to restore service.

A City of Hamilton spokeswoman advised at 2pm that lights affected included “the junction of Queen Street and Church Street, the pedestrian crossing opposite the City Hall car park near Dismont Drive and the pedestrian crossing further along Church Street near the Central Bus Terminal”.

Drivers were asked to cut their speed, keep alert for pedestrians and be prepared to stop, while pedestrians were advised to use extra care while crossing the road and check that traffic has come to a complete stop before stepping out.

Outages also affected two of the same sets of lights in June.

The spokeswoman asked for patience, courtesy and heightened awareness while the lights remain out of service, and said the City apologised for any inconvenience caused.
