Sculpture in sand for island

Special message: the sand sculpture saying thanks for all the hard work after Hurricane Humberto was revealed on Sandcastle Competition Facebook page on Monday, the location of which has not been revealed

The hard work of Bermudians after Hurricane Humberto has been recognised with a special sandsculpture.

Photographs of the sculpture were posted on the Bermuda Sandcastle Competition Facebook page on Monday.

They show a worker in a cherrypicker basket with a sign beside that reads “Thank you”.

The worker also has a tattoo of the island of Bermuda on his left arm. The location of the artwork was not stated. The social media post reads: “So proud of my island home.

“Less than a week from Hurricane Humberto, we are already preparing for another this week and a potential third right behind.

“We are only able to be so prepared thanks to our amazing storm troopers, and this post is dedicated to them.”

The post thanks Belco, the Royal Bermuda Regiment, the Parks Department and the Government of Bermuda.
