Staff at the Bermuda Weather Service will enjoy a day of recognition today with World Meteorological Day.

The island is included, via Britain, among World Meteorological Organisation agencies worldwide.

The theme for this year is “At the Frontline of Climate Action”.

Bermuda’s participation includes the WMO regional association IV hurricane committee activities.

Wayne Furbert, the transport minister, called on the BWS headquarters in Southside, St David’s, joining staff for the launch of the daily weather balloon.

He praised the 13 full-time staff providing “vital” around the clock service for the island, its marine area and LF Wade International Airport.
