BHS students hit high note with music exams

The Music Department of the Bermuda High School for Girls received some good news from the Royal Schools of Music in London this week — a 95 percent pass rate in the recent Theory of Music Examinations.

An elated Mrs Caroline Davis, Head of Music at BHS said: “We have seen all the students who took the theory exams become more confident in Music classes. The skills they learned have helped them become stronger musicians. All the hard work was worth it in the end!”

Top student was Year 7 Corinne Grandisson who passed with the perfect score of 100 percent. “When I saw the result I went numb with shock” exclaimed Corinne. “I couldn’t believe it!”

“Fifty percent of our students passed with Distinction” said Mrs Davis. “For a student to pass with Distinction she must have a pass mark of at least 90 percent in the exam.”

The students were presented with their certificates by Head of School Mrs Linda Parker during Morning Assembly on Tuesday.

“This has been an excellent year for BHS and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams” said Mrs Parker. “Our congratulations go to Mrs Davis and all the students who did so well.”
