A strong contingent of 65 players, coaches, families and friends of Dandy Town started fundraising with pot luck dinners, bake sales, canteen sales and tag days in June 2013 to make a trip of a lifetime come true for some of the children at the Dandy Town Youth Academy this summer. Three teams of children U10 Boys, U12 Boys and U14 girls travelled together with coaches and chaperones to the Disney International Cup in Orlando, Florida.

There were approximately 175 international teams that participated in the tournament in Florida. The games were held at the ESPN World Wide Sports Complex.

Shawnette Perott, Youth Coordinator at Dandy Town told us “It was an awesome experience, we would like to go again. Plans have already started for fundraising for next year.”

The Dandy Town Girls won their Division at The Disney International Cup in Orlando. They played teams such as Honduras and California to win the tournament. The U12 Boys made it to their Group finals.

Shawnette Perott (Youth Coordinator); Troy Harvey (Director of Football) and Devarr Boyles (Director of Coaching) together with a team of coaches and parents make up the Dandy Town Youth Academy team.

The Academy has players from ages four to Youth 16. There are approximately 130 children in the Academy; made up of approximately 25 girls and the rest boys.

The boys have three training sessions and the girls have two sessions per week after school. There are regular weekend games on Saturdays which usually start mid October.
