Musicians mark top year

So proud: Mrs Linda Parker together with Dr Tully and their BHS student musicians

After a successful inaugural video capturing a year in music at BHS, we are now embarking on our second year to create a movie that captures all our musical activities of the school year. In the near future, we hope to share the video on our school’s website when it’s complete.

Some of the music activities to be included will be our Christmas performance at the St Peter’s Church in St George in December. The young musicians have also played carols for Seniors at Peace Lutheran Church and at Westmeath, as well as our own school’s Christmas Concert.

The BHS musicians were also very busy preparing for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams in the Fall where the results showed a 100 per cent pass rate. Impressively, the students participated in a whole variety of exams including flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and music theory.

Next month, we plan to hold a Valentine’s concert with music just before the midterm break to celebrate the romantic occasion. We are busy rehearsing such pieces as My Heart Will go On and Annie’s Song.

Finally, we have been rehearsing music for our Easter concert at school, and we look forward to returning to perform at Westmeath in late March.
