An Easter performance to savour

On song: BHS students visit Once Upon a Time Nursery School to perform their Easter concert

We visited the Once Upon a Time Nursery School. It is very close to Bermuda High School, which meant that we could walk there. We all wore our Easter bonnets to show off to the children at Once Upon a Time.

The three of us have been going to Dr Tully every Thursday for guitar lessons. We have been practising our songs and on Friday, March 18, along with other musicians from our primary department, we played a concert at Once Upon a Time for the children.

We have been practising playing our guitars and singing with our teacher Dr Tully and we had composed a song called Mrs DeSilva’s Easter Song for the nursery children.

Mrs DeSilva is our teacher. When we got to the nursery school we took out our instruments and we were the first to play our song. We were very nervous because we were first to perform, but the teachers and children all gave us a big round of applause!

We had lots of different instruments with us. Ava Gibson and Anya Podgaits performed a violin and cello duet, followed by Ava Adams and Zavia Doyling, who performed Edelweiss on violin and flute.

Ruth Exell and Emily Davis did solo performances on their saxophones, then everyone laughed when Camryn Lines told the children that she was going to perform a piece on piano called La Cucaracha, because “Cucaracha” means “cockroach” in Spanish!

We finished our concert with a flute duet by Laura Frith and Addy Thorpe, both in year four.

Everyone loved our Easter visit to the nursery school and some of the children told us that they are coming to BHS next year.

We love playing our guitars, it’s very fun for us.
